Nothing terribly special, but I like it.
Rat tone sections are kinda ...pointless, in my view. You can get usable tone control with your axe. No clutter on the box.
Did some etch magic. Super happy it's trued up and working properly. 5W for now, maybe 20+ in the next year or so. We'll see. Also, I'm still getting used to photo editing tools in Linux. Might get Affinity up in a WINE bottle to make it easy. Maybe even find an old, standalone Lightroom. Dangit, 'dobe, why you gotta be so greedy?
I was on a building hiatus when the G series was in force, and I wanted to experiment, so here we are: a slim Rat. The jacks are flopped and LED opposite where it should be, since I also didn't mirror the drill pattern. And some of the caps I didn't have in <7mm height. 100μF cap was meant to be flat.
The board is capable of PDIP or TO99-8 LM308/OP07 (don't know if the OP07 had a can... but it might, because it's OLDer than I thought).
If anyone wants a board, hit me up. I've got 2 left. Would also work in a 1590B, if you aren't partial to the lilliputian elevation of the G.
Also, it's set up to use either standard 914 clipping diodes, Fat Rat MOSFET clipping, or choose your own adventure! Additionally, the JFET is SMD on the bottom, since it's the most common anymore.

Almost had it to 1 layer :-[ one trace on top to connect a can pin
So it's basically the same without a treble cut? Does it play well with others if you have to as the tone knob on your guitar?

The etch looks great! Did you just omit the tone section entirely, or is there some fixed filtering in it's place?
Also, hit me up if you want to talk about Linux workflows; I've been Free and Open Source Software only for almost twenty years.

Yeah. I guess what I meant by "you can use your guitar tone knob," was more of a "I never use the treble cut on a Rat, because it's never bright to my ears (on my bright amp) and the cut does nothing useful, IMO." I'm really sensitive to sound, and it's not overly harsh to me at all. Same thing with a G2, only that one needs mods to make it brighter. The Rat is just, "tone section useless" ;D

Thanks! Exactly, I just cut the tone section out:
As far as open-source, I've got RawTherapee for my RAW files, but with >25 years of Photoshop "muscle memory" GIMP makes me irrationally angry ;D hence my thought to plop my purchased Affinity license into Bottles. It's kinda there.
I may not have the best distro. I have pop_OS because my machine is primarily for gaming, and using KDE Plasma has made some other RAW programs I tied rather unstable. I'll try just about anything on FlatHub, though.

Ah, ok, makes sense. I've lost almost all of my hearing, so it wouldn't bother me either.

I stopped shooting RAW when I realized my technique was what was limiting my pictures and not the file format. :P I'm sure the same isn't true for you. When I was shooting RAW, I was happily using Darktable.
Going to Gimp from Photoshop is worse than starting from scratch. It's like learning to play guitar left handed after a lifetime of playing right handed. I'm used to it, but that's because I never got used to Photoshop.
