Title: 3-way switch for tele rail pickup
Post by: atreidesheir on July 24, 2025, 12:43:11 AM
I need help with a tele wiring problem.  If anyone is comfortable laying out this wiring scheme, I would be very grateful.  I admit I am struggling with the switch,... and very out of practice.

My son has a Squire Tele.  I bought him some tele rail pickups (6.7k).  Standard modern 4-way humbucker wiring.

He lost the tele neck rail pickup.  I am pretty miffed at him about it, but I will go ahead and make his tele an Esquire with a rail bridge pickup.

I want to use his import style 3-way switch.  I can use a traditional 3-way switch if it is easier to lay out.
I want 3 switch positions
     1) rails pickup wired parallel - to tone knob
     2) Eldred Mod- resistor in series from volume pot to 3-way switch - to tone knob
     3) rail pickup series (standard wiring) - to tone knob

Here is the Eldred Mod, which is a resisitor from the vol to the switch, which does give it a decent fixed wah-type sound.  Very useful.
