Title: Pearl Octaver and Boss OC-2 jfet input stage
Post by: garfo on March 04, 2026, 10:25:13 PM
Both the Boss OC-2 and Pearl Octaver (Low Rider) have identical single Jfet input stages followed by an opamp gain stage.

The question is, are these single jfet inputs even necessary or are they a leftover from the original bypassing mechanism? It seems like the pedal should work exactly the same if the jfet stage was left out, or am I wrong?

Input buffers. They are usually skipped when building "replicas".

Right, that is what I thought but the Low Rider keeps this input stage.
