Title: active pickups & pedals
Post by: 9Lives on January 19, 2012, 05:09:33 PM
I have a set of blackouts in one of my guitars. And every diy distortion pedal I use them on I get muddy tones. Rat, dr boogie, ocd. All my guitars have pretty hot signals and itdoes this too. Input buffers work with the passives but the only thing that cleans up the active is my byoc 5 knob comp. That's been my miracle pedal. This is blowing my mind. The pickups have a  scratchy sounding clean tone. It's not the battery(first off). What direction should I start in?

Do you know a guy with passive lower powered pickups? Ask him over for a jam and steal his guitar for some testing...

Make sure you give it back...
