Title: snarkdoodle 330uf cap
Post by: sgmezei on February 22, 2012, 06:43:01 PM
Okay, I am not quite sure what the 330uf cap is doing in the snarkdoodle but I dont have one at this value.

Can I sub in a different value? two 100uf in parallel?

Thanks team!

Looking at the schematic I'd say it's a filtercap for the power supply. Haven't seen one that big in other builds, but it might have something to do with that particular IC? I'm gonna dig up a datasheet and check it out, because I have a Snarkie board as well, bought the big cap from mouser, part nr 647-UKW1E331MPD.
As for subbing, better wait for the more experienced guys, they'll know for sure! Let me know how your build works out, what version are you building? I'm gonna aim for the Hybrid, or socket some components, so I can experiment.

Good luck, Paul

100uF or 220uF works just fine.

Thanks Guys

So is it just a power filter then? Thats the impression I got

And DutchMF, I am building the latest version and socketed all the hybrid components so I can try them all out.

I have built versions of this circuit with 100, 220 and 300µf caps (always the same value throughout the build), and have heard no difference.
