Title: Fatpants help
Post by: mikexc on March 07, 2012, 08:05:11 AM
Hi guys,

I just finished building a fatpants and I'm having an issue with it not working.

I'm following the "Standard wire diagram for MadBeanpedals projects" for the 3pdt and I am using a mono jack for the input and skipping the battery. I was testing it and getting a humm so I figure its the ground and I start desoldering the ground. Soon as I take the ground of the switch the LED light comes on. Still hums too.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks so much!

You've obviously got a wiring issue.  Please post some high-resolution, in-focus, well-lit photos of your jack and switch wiring and we'll see what we can do.  Good luck!

If you are testing out of an enclosure you need to have the both the input and output jacks grounded.

Not sure I understand your description of what is happening with the LED though.

I redid/cleaned up the wiring on the switch and I also tried using a switch that I know works my sho, still nothing. So I'm going to redo the whole project - the soldering job looks really bad, I'm practicing hard here.

I'll let you guys know how it comes out - thanks!
