Title: 1n34a Diodes?
Post by: murdog47 on March 07, 2012, 05:00:06 PM
Are these the correct diodes for the 1n34a on the Egodriver and are they ok to use? Mouser has a note on the page that says "not recommended for new designs".

I *think* that might refer to the fact that the supply is limited, and that designers hoping to use them for years to come may run into difficulty.  They should be fine to use in the EgoDriver, unless someone corrects me.

it's because the 1n34 is made of germanium and isn't widely used or made anymore. any small-signal diode with low Vf is a close sub (1n916, 1n4148, etc ).
