Title: Brown Source
Post by: raulduke on April 26, 2012, 09:21:27 AM
I'm considering building a Lovetone Brown Source (like I really need another overdrive  ::)  :)).

If I do I think I'll dive straight in and do a PCB layout for it with board mounted pots and rotary switch.

Has anyone here ever tried one out? It seems to be a lovetone pedal that you don't hear much about.

I made a two sided layout around December but never got it made because I heard from John Lyons that it wasn't that great--not much gain...it's just a slightly dirty booster. I decided the parts count wasn't worth the hassle. I'd probably take an OCD, Guv'nor, or Rat over it

Thanks for the heads up dude.

It sound pretty bad in that clip!

I might give it a miss if John Lyons has given it the thumbs down.

Trade for your pickle?  ;)

I have one built in an unfinished plain metal 1590bb.

Thanks for the offer Lace but I think I'll leave it. It sounds pretty uninspiring from the clips I have heard.

No worries

I can recommend the variation called the Tone Source by Doug Hammond.
I actually quite like both pedals though. The Brown Source works best into an overdriving amp / push an amp into breakup.
