There's a new music venue in Amsterdam, called Ziggo Dome, and the company I work for has built the HVAC installations there so I had the chance to see Pearl Jam there two nights in a row. Needless to say it was brilliant!!! Officially I was part of the "Standby Team", which was there to act in case something went wrong with the installation, but in reality, I was only there to see the show! On Tuesday I even got to see the sound check, awesome stuff! I think I'll never leave the company....

That is awesome. They have always been one of my favorite bands. The chemistry between Gossard and McCready has always been incredible.

I was never the hugest fan back in the day, but I have come to appreciate them much more over the years. I'm always a sucker for good twin-guitar interplay.
Anyway Paul, that sounds like an unreal experience. I had a similar experience on another continent, but nowhere near the magnitude because I didn't know who any of the bands were. When I was in Laos doing field research, my wife's cousin there who owns an HVAC company was doing the work on this massive concert hall the government built (with Chinese money). He kept getting us in to see famous Japanese bands/artists who were coming to do "cultural exchange" type concerts during summer 2003. Some American guy getting preferential treatment and entry in this nominally socialist country must have been weird for people who had to let me in!
That does sound like quite a trip, Bret! It's amazing where HVAC can take you....... For our company (just a little over 200 people there, including the office staff and the guys who actually build stuff) it was a chance to prove what we could do, as it was a BIG project! The Ziggo Dome seats 17000 people, excluding the VIP areas (where I spent a lot of tuesday evening). Even if somebody I don't care about would have been playing it would have been cool to see it all actually work. Memorable stuff.
