Hey howdy hi,
I've recently built the 2012 Fatpants. I'm not as fond of it
as I am the previous version. And it has an effect on my tone
when bypassed. I'm thinking it is the buffer, as the previous
version doesn't impact tone when bypassed, and sounds a bit
different in general. I would like to use the 2012 version as I like
the two modes on the switch.
So, how would I go about bypassing\disabling the buffer in the newest FP?
Thanks mucho
Hey man... so you like the tone engaged but don like it bypassed??
If you wired it 'true bypass' like in the general wiring diagrams, then your problem will be an evil patch lead
Not quite. It effects tone regardless of
being on or off. It really jacks the treble frequencies
when on and off both.
And the other problem is that when engaged, it doesn't
sound like the previous version. But I like the mid boost function.
so, I'd like the engaged effect to sound like the previous version, and for it to
not effect the bypassed tone.
Buffered bypass and input buffer are not the same...
High input impedance and low output impedance is recommanded in these stompboxes.
With the wiring diagram provided, when bypassed, signal goes from in jack to 3pdt to outjack. No alteration should be heard.

If this is true, you have a mistake in your off-board wiring or possibly a short on/in your 3PDT footswitch. Would you mind uploading good close-up photos of your wiring?
Thirded. Let's see your wiring to see if we can find out why the bypass tone is effected.
I finished mine a few weeks. No effect on tone at all when bypassed.
I think you may have sprung a leak! ;)
