Title: 100pf/150pf What Did You Use For Patstyface? Ceramic, Mica?
Post by: frankie5fingers on July 22, 2012, 01:39:52 AM
Hello all.  Trying to finish up the Pastyface - to Soulbender spec.  I've managed to source an all mojo BOM (except the wire AND led), nothing less than 25 years old.  No reason, BTW, just for fun.  Anyway, I'm having a hard time finding anything but ceramics.  What's the right call for C2 and C7?
Thanks

I used polystyrene 150pf and 220pf with good results.

Ceramics are fine in both of those positions.

There are old ceramic disc caps! Like the ones used in the old big muffs. If your already that far in the mojo I'd say silver micas would complete it..

Yeah - I wound up with a bunch of old Silver Micas.  There's an electronics store near me with a small "hobbyist" department - caps, resistors, diodes, etc.  They don't intend to sell NOS or mojo parts.  It's just that their inventory is so old.  I guess they bought it decades ago, but of course they sell it at top prices so they didn't sell much of it.  These caps have to be 20 years old...
I'll have to post a pic when I get around to building it.
