Title: PNP Silicon transistors for Mangler
Post by: murdog47 on August 03, 2012, 07:17:52 PM
Was thinking of plugging some PNP silicon transistors into my Mangler Fuzz Face in place of the germs to see what I like.  Any suggestions for which transistors to try?

2n2369 for q1.  You can get this at sb or here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/260774266338?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649).

BD139 for q2 if it will fit (it's in a to-126 pkg).  I have an old etched one and I had to drill the holes out a little for it to fit.  I got some of these from tayda but you can get them most places like mouser or newark too.  not sure about sb.  You could probably just go with a 2n3904 or 2n4401 here as well, though.

I found the si transistors sounded best in a ff it you try to stick with similar gains as if you were using germs.  Just one man's opinion.

Oops, I just realized you asked for PNP.  My bad, those are NPN :-[

I'm not sure.  Tayda used to sell some of those 2n2907 in to-18 metal cans.  I'd probably grab some of those and their 2SA1015's and give those a shot.
