Go check it out. BYOC user Bassman worked hard getting the site up and running, and put in place one HELL of a legal disclaimer and terms of service.
It's essentially a repository for all manner of schematics and layouts (and also wiring diagrams), with a focus on Eagle CAD files. But any file type is fine, so long as it relates to effects, amps, guitars, and the like. Uploaders can specify if they want the files used only for non-commercial purposes, or you can open it up to anything. Your choice.
It's not a forum, but some level of discussion can take place.
I've already uploaded some stuff, and madbean has as well (along with jimmybjj).
So go on over and sign up. :)
Wasn't able to get in...looks like its down :-[
It's not down, you just needed to validate your account via your email. I went ahead and took care of that for you and you should have no trouble logging in now.
I'm signed up! just uploaded an .sch file of an LPB-1 ;)
and some info I collected on Big Muffs!
sick! i've only got about 8 projects but this looks like fun!
Hmmm, think I must have put in the wrong email address or something as I've got no confirmation e-mail :(

Juan, look in your «spam» mail, the confirmation may have fallen there....., it's what happened to me ;)
This «collectivo» is really neat and fully backed legally, I feel like there's alot of great things to happen over there! :)

Same problem here! No mail received...
Edit : gmail sent it to the spam directory. Thanks for the tip!
Did you guys get the confirmation immediately? Mine's not even in the spam bin

I went ahead and validated you two. You are now free to roam about the site :D
Same with a few others. I you had registered in the last 6 hours or so your account should be activated now.
Gmail it appears is going to be a pain in my arse as far as the verification mails go. Just did a google search of the issue and there doesn't really seem to be much I can do about it on my end other than add a note in the registration form to add admin@pedalgeeksunited.com to the safe sender list.
Looks cool. i'm in:)

yahoo mail must be causing a problem as well ???

Thanks! I never got a validation email either...comcast.net
mildly off topic but thought I'd ask before I invest too much effort.
Putting together parts orders across multiple projects is a PITA. I'm always afraid I'll miss something and then .. there's that 6.00 shipping charge again. So that's the main driver for this.
I've been thinking about building a site that was more focused around BOM's and ordering parts.
Something like mouser "projects" but with no vendor dependency.
You'd be able to create a project.
Add link's to the schematics & layouts and board ordering (not embed them, just link to the websites).
Add or import the parts and quantities, even be able to mark things as "optional" or "Mods".
Keep them private or share.
Then when you wanted to build a project or a couple of different projects the site would pull everything together so you would get a "super" BOM for all selected projects and quantities.
I have more ideas for features floating around for this too.. but, anyone think the basic idea sounds useful?

Yep I assume that's what happened to me too (another gmail user).
Cheers, I'm in.

Mouser certainly makes it easy. I've had the same thought and polished up my BOMs and shared them here in the members' projects forum.

Yeah, but you can only add mouser parts.. if you can find them or figure them out :)... i'm thinking of something more generic and simple.
If it's a bonehead idea then that's ok.. don't be afraid to tell me so.

It's a cool idea, but what you have in mind would require quite a bit of interface coding.
If I understand you, a project BOM on this site would just have a series of dropdown boxes with options.
(Like in the capacitors dropdown, you can choose box, mylar, etc.)
When you're done, you press one button and it adds it to a 'master shopping cart' across all sites. Then when you're done, one more button press orders everything for you.
It'd be awesome, but it would take someone who knows a lot about coding to get determined to do it. Mouser is actually set up really well - as long as you know exactly what you need.

I'm an enterprise developer/architect so the development part is taken care of :)
I just suck at any sort of branding.. art work type stuff.
I'd be suprised if anyone besides large Mouser or Digikey type places had any sort of interfacing that would be more sophisticated than screen scraping or url loading of carts.. but.. cross that bridge if I come to it.
Just a little bump to remind folks about the site. :)
I signed up ealier today and have been checking my email (including spam folder) and have not received an email to log into the site.
User name is AllenM
This sounds like a really good concept. Good thinking.
For the Europe guys there's also musikding which has the feature to save your chart locally and then upload it later on with the possibility to edit it. It's saved as an csv file I think.
This could perhaps be added along mouser ect.
I signed up, and haven't had an email, in inbox, spam, bin anything :/
George
UPDATE - I went ahead and tried to login and got the message that I was not authorized and another email would be sent and this time it showed up in my email!
AllenM
Still ot doing it for me :/ have tried several times! Gonna get a hundred emails tomorrow!
Weird. I just activated all the users that were in the queue. You guys should be good to go now.
I just registered with no problems.
I'M IN!!
Thanks Dude
George
Bump. Is it still possible to register? Whenever I try, I get the message "Sorry, the selected image is not correct". I retried a few times in case I really misread the captcha, to no avail. And nothing in my spam folder either.

Same here. I get the same message and tried the captcha at least 5 times.

it happened exactly the same to me
yup same here. captcha craptcha
Same here, captcha problems
I'll see if I can fix that.
I can't create an account - I think the problem is the image validation. I have tried several times and always get "Sorry, the selected image is incorrect".
Same thing with me, I did have problems like this also when I first try to register on MB forum..
Hey Forrest have you heard from Bassman? He dropped off the face of the Earth at BYOC after posting heavily and in the middle of building stuff and giving updates. Then poof.
This question may be off the subject or it might be right on, I'm not sure.
Haven't heard from Bassman in a while. But he's in the Navy, I think. So maybe he's on deployment.
I think I've managed to turn off the Captcha. But now I'm worried the spam will get insane. I guess we'll see.
Which captcha system were you using? The SPAM problem is huge if you can't get some system in place. I've used reCAPTCHA a bit it it seems to be pretty good. It's worth a try if you can use it in your interface and assuming it's not the one you were already using,
http://www.google.com/recaptcha (http://www.google.com/recaptcha)
There actually two different Captcha plugins activated. I turned them both off. One is v1.8 and the other is 2.0, which is this:
http://community.elgg.org/plugins/721250/2.0/image-captcha
Maybe I'll just leave 2.0 turned on. But honestly, there are already about 100 spam bot accounts, and I've deleted 75 or so myself (a few months ago). I didn't install/choose the system, I'm just an admin that Bassman added to help out. I can install/uninstall plugins and whatnot.
There used to be a plug in called saber that I used when I had my site, but i forget what it dos,or how it prevented spam bots I should say,but it worked really well.

Hmmm, I was thinking he was out but I'm probably confused with Frag Magnet.
Huh, I only just now heard about this site.
Registered!
Pretty cool, I just started goofing around with eagle, it will be nice to pick apart things to see how it works.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks Culturejam, I have been able to register.
No problems registering, but many of the files don't download properly, might just be me, but assuming there's others with same issue?
Is there going to be a Tapatalk install?
I haven't tried to download any files yet...
And +1 on the tapatalk-friendly-ness.:)
It's mostly a place to post/share Eagle projects. I suppose tapatalk can be installed, but I just don't imagine that many people are going to be doing PCB layouts on their phone. ;D
Actually, I just checked, and I do not believe there is a tapatalk plugin for Elgg.

Can't even do it on a tablet with splash top. turns out that not being able to right click = sadness for eagle.
