Title: Ratcake - Modified Shortstack OD
Post by: the3secondrule on August 31, 2012, 07:43:37 AM
A few tweaks with this one:

Firstly, I tried a few different opamps, ne5534 (I was getting oscillation at full gain), lm741, (good, but I already have a stock hotcake), then I had an idea - LM308 ! the other mods - I increased the output cap to 470n, and added the bluesberry diodes (didn't notice much of a difference, TBH).

so how does it sound? Still does the clean boost / overdrive thing, but it max gain, it's much fuzzier and thicker. the tone switch rather than the presence pot still gives lots of useable sounds too.

and, the family photo:

cool! If you used one of the boards I sold, did you flip the diodes around? Been wondering why another member had problems with the bluesberry mods

I did use one of your boards, and I did flip the diodes.  ;D

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the sound - I made another shortstack with the bluesberry mod on a switch, and again the difference is also subtle, if noticeable at all...
