Title: Krankosaurus C5 - 1 uF electrolytic or box?
Post by: lincolnic on November 20, 2010, 01:30:03 AM
Hey guys,

I'm building a Krankosaurus, and I only notice now that C5 (1 uF) is supposed to be an electrolytic. I was only able to find this value as a box cap from Small Bear. Can I use what I've got, or does it have to be electrolytic?

If it does have to be electrolytic, does anyone have two of them to spare? I'd be much happier sending you the dollar for postage than putting in an order just for two caps. Thanks!

I have some extra 1uf electrolytics that I can spare.

The box cap would work fine there, but you may have trouble fitting it in the board. If mjcyates or someone else will send you an electro cap, that will look and fit better.

Quotemjcyates, I've sent you a PM

I just sent a reply. By the way does anyone in madbean land have 4 33n caps they could part with. I am making a Quasar and Gliteratti and mistakenly ordered 3.3n instead of 33n.

You are welcome. Good luck with the build.

Added note: you can almost always substitute non-polar film caps for electrolytics. Space and expense are the only deciding factors.
