Title: F***n' Fuzz Face
Post by: Vallhagen on September 29, 2012, 07:56:38 AM
Hi folks.

First of all: Thanx to you guys sharing all knowledge on this forum, specifically in this thread: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=5866.0

I havent, until this project, paid much attention to the FF-s out there, but ... this time, it actually started down at the pub, where a friends friend turned out to be a complete pedal geek (as a musician, not a designer/building hobbyist), and after some chitchatting he specifically orderred a "ugly fuckin' fuzzface" from me. So... well, i concentrated on his orders, and made it my ugliest so far.  ;D

Hope i don't offend anyone by using the F-word.

**********

There are obviously hundreds (?) of similar PCB-designs out there, but i made my own EAGLE design and etching. it's fun:). AC128 ge PNP transistors, and a MAX1044 voltage converter on board. I didn't bother to order "tested pairs" of FF transistors, but a bunch of different types. The chosen AC128 have fairly low gain and sounds... "creamy" and good.

Cheers :)

Maybe it's just me, but I actually think it's kind of pretty...dig it anyway.

My favorite part is the two tiny knobs off center.  :P

Good on you for making your own layout, too, even in the age of Google.

Oh i agree :) . The painted color is a mix of pink and "skincolor" with some flakes. Definately pretty. maybe "ugly cute". Also, i was happy to have some white knobs lyin around here. Amost no black details at all:)

midwayfair: Thanx. hehe, yea i actually like those offcenterred knobs too, aestetically. But, they are also placed there for functional reasons. For every box i make, I seem to "always" struggle with the "how-to-solve-the-offboard-wiring-equation-in-the-most-clever-way"-question; "where to place the 9V-jack"? etc... This time i think the interior ended up in a good way:).

Cheers n thanx!
