Title: Will only a buffer stop the Boneyard squeal?
Post by: Beedoola on October 22, 2012, 06:29:16 PM
I built a BY and did the  half-gain mod (R5=100R, C5=1uF) which worked at stop the squeal but I still had a weird presence issue - was solved by putting a buffer on the IN side of the circuit. I used a Klon buffer.

My question is; will just adding a buffer stop the squeal with the circuit stock? without doing the half/gain mod? I plan on building another BY and was curious about this.

Thanks.

Naa.. I siliconed the below shield in place and dont have any squeal unless I dime the gain and the volume at the same time (but that's really impractical to do anyway).  It's quite simply tinfoil, wrapped in scotch tape with a wire attached and running to ground.  The key is to put it between R1 and R4 (it's only between the 2 ceramic caps to help hold it in place).  I'm not running the 1/2 gain mod either anymore, it's stock from the docs.

I love this pedal, it's always in use.
