Title: Anyone have a pic of PPP hammertone?
Post by: fish22 on December 13, 2012, 04:36:48 PM
PPP has black hammertone as well as blue.
Anyone have a picture in one of those? I keep getting surprised by their colors when they actually arrive.

Also where can I get LED lenses in the US? I checked mouser and mammoth with no luck.
Thanks!

I used a green hammertone from PPP in my recent lunar module build.

You can get LED lenses at Mouser.  The manufacturer is VCC.  If you can't find them, I can dig up a part number later.

Is an order of "1" just one lens, or a baggie of 2 or 3?

28 cents a lens seems expensive. Surley these aren't hand blown from fulgurite.

28 cents a piece sounds about right and is indeed 1 lens.  Additionally, you'll probably want the rear retention ring that snaps on from the back.  If you glue it (and the LED) in place, you might be able to skip the ring, but it works better with the ring.

Think of it like an LED bezel.  They are cheap from Tayda, but if you buy the ones from Small Bear or PPP (which are better quality, IMHO) then you will pay $.75-1.00 each.  The plastic lenses are cheaper than that, but not just a few cents.
