Title: Shoot the moon - Battery friendly?
Post by: angrykoko on December 22, 2012, 08:25:15 PM
Going to box up a shoot the moon tonight, looks like I might have room for a battery in the box.

Anyone know if the circuit is battery friendly?

Thanks in advance.

No more or less than another pedal.

Well, within reason.

Keep in mind that if you build it with an indicator LED, AND a rate LED, you've got a total of three LEDs in the circuit (because of the one in the vactrol, too). Current consumption will be close to, what 25-30mA? in that case. That's a LOT for a battery.

Coupled with the fact that tremolos give poor performance (shallow depth, and eventually just no LFO action) when the battery is low, I'd say ... only plan on using it for emergencies.

Cool, thanks guys.

I'll just leave the battery out, I think it'll look better with the foot switch lower anyway.
