Title: Bad MN3207's
Post by: electricstorm on January 20, 2013, 05:39:57 AM
Anyone receive bad MN3207's from Polida on eBay?

I ordered 16 sets of MN3102/MN3207's from them and after spending a few hours on a project I am working on, decided to test them in a known working delay using the same BBD's. Out of the 16 MN3207's, only 4 had delay (although shorter delay time than the original MN3207 in the delay circuit). The rest just passed a dry signal with no delay. Anyone else have this problem?

Mn3207 is a really short delay. It's not usually used for an actual delay/echo type circuit. The shortest is usually MN3208.

Yeah and the next shortest is 512 stages which is really fucking short and the chip (MN3204 I think?) is rarer so I doubt they rebranded it.

Still, you got fucked over if 8 don't work... I assume you rebiased for each one?

I have 5 sets in a drawer from him.  I will test them out in my pork barrel as soon as.

I've used their sets in two pork barrels and a 3207 from them in a Current Lover, no issues with either.  Haven't used them in dedicated delay circuits.

That's kind of odd, wonder if he just got a bad batch from his supplier?

I have four working chips out of 16 and one original chip that I'm using
in my flanger clone.

Any other reliable sources for the MN3207's?

I'm going to place an order with Smallbear for the alternates he offers (BL3207 and V3207D) and try those instead.

How many do you need ?

I needed two of each (MN3102, MN3207). From what I can tell, the MN3102's are fine, just the MN3207's were bad (except four of them). So technically, I need two for the current build. Ordered the extra for other projects later on but guess I stay away from Polida for these.
