Title: CA3080e
Post by: LaceSensor on January 25, 2013, 08:01:44 PM
Hey

What can I build with CA3080 chips?
I have 15 of them sat here (vintage RCA) doing nothing

I was thinking to make a Small Stone for fun but they use 3094s :(

The tonepad small stone is adapted for CA3080 use.

The Ross/Dyna comp.

EHX Black Finger Compressor (original no tube one).

Quite a few things but they're the most popular.

The Ross compressor is one of the more famous ones.

I did a PCB layout of that circuit since I hadn't built one before.  I should have a few extras if you are interested.  Assuming it works, of course.  :-)

Craig Anderton seemed to be keen on the CA3080 back when. Like, the era of the Paia Gator, which uses uses it.

Nice. I have about a dozen 3080s that I've been holding on to for years now. Would be nice to put at least one to use.  :D
