Title: Any Voltage Starve Enthusiasts Out There?
Post by: calciferspit on February 26, 2013, 03:33:09 PM
I absolutely love voltage starving fuzzes and octave effects and add a starve pot to most of my projects and several commercial pedals. I don't seem to notice many on here who do it so I thought I'd open a discussion abut it. Any other knob tweakers out there?

Well, all my PT2399s are starved to 5v. ;)

I have a stave knob on the fuzz face on my board (built by Luke Orsie at Luck Duck). It trims the highs. Combined with a bunch of other knobs on the pedal like a low-cut, it lets me get a much more mids-focused fuzz.

I only like starving transistors, though. Op amps sound horrible. [Though to be fair, in my case, I'm not really limiting that statement to "op amps sound horrible when starved" or "when distorted." I often dislike the sound of op amps in general ...]

Huge fan. I have a sag knob on my testing rig and have had tons of fun experimenting with many different pedals including fuzz, distortions, delays- really love how it changes things.

Fun with fuzz, yucky with most other stuff.

But then yucky is sometimes exactly what you need  ;)
