Title: Polarised 1uf tantalum okay on green bean?
Post by: timbo_93631 on February 26, 2013, 07:02:25 PM
So I am trying to wrap up my 2 in 1 which is half green bean.  Is it okay to use 1uf tantalums instead of box caps for C2, C8, and C10 instead of box caps as long as the (+) is towards the input?  I have added 1uf film caps to 3 parts orders from different sources I placed over the weekend hoping some will get here in time but the first ones I ordered on Thursday just went to post office yesterday :/

you should measure the dc voltage across those caps (i wouldn't solder them in yet) and position them correctly. iirc, tant caps are sensitive to backwards voltage.

if i had to guess:

C2, negative side towards Q1
C8, hard to say, roughly biased the same on both sides probably negative side towards IC1 pin7/R11
C10, negative side towards R16/out
