Couple questions about shielded cable.
1. I've read you should shield both the the "in" and "out". Is that the in and out from the guitar jacks or to and from the board?
2. Does it matter where you ground the shield to?
3. If this cuts down on noise, would it be a good practice for every build?

although it certainly won't do any harm to shield both, i would say it's more important to shield the input than the output. the reasoning is the input signal has yet to be amplified, so if noise is added at this stage, it too will be amplified by the circuit. additionally, the output signal is likely fairly large, so any added noise will be small and unnoticeable.
using shielding wire will give you the most benefit in high gain circuits. it's probably not worth it for most other circuits.
