Title: Battery got pretty warm, leaked acid
Post by: Haberdasher on May 05, 2010, 11:36:52 PM
The battery of my neutrino (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=85.msg282;boardseen#new) got kind of hot & leaked acid on some velcro on my breadboard.  No real harm done to the breadboard.
I had the battery connected all day with the dc jack in (effect was off), which is supposed to interrupt the battery as I understand it.

Is it possible I have the ring & tip wired backwards on the dc jack or something?  Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like the positive and negative terminals were connected directly together.

That's usually what causes that kind of thing.

The pos & neg from the battery somehow were touching in the breadboard I guess, then.  I pulled the batt clip out and am playing with dc power and everything seems to sound great.  I'll hopefully always be playing powered from the dc jack anyway I guess...
Should I be worried?   :-\
