Post by: gtangas on March 26, 2013, 03:34:07 PM
Trying to improve some issues with my last sea urchin I etch a new board, last one didn't came out so nice, Bought some low esr electrolytic caps and pop the board. Add a 100k resistor from output wire (on the board) to ground

Use my test box and the effect work okay but when is off I'm Still earing some signal... Weak

WhenI I turn off the effect a strange noise...

I t here is a video...

Man o man.... This urchin is killing me :-)

to me, the noise sounds like a click of some type that's get echoed by the delay. is everything grounded correctly? is the switch properly set up?

Are you sure it is not a problem with the testing set up?

It's a squeak sound.

Jon told me that is normal with the pt2399...when you cut the power... But I will mod the test box because it cuts the power when I press the switch...

Watching the video, I see you get the same squeaking effect when you remove the power lead. As you said earlier, hook up the test box so power is not disconnected when you press the footswitch and the squeak sound should go away.

The fight is over.... Yessssy

The squeak was indeed from the abrupt power loss. I connected the rig test this way to prevent power going to the circuit... Something like a on/off switch.... Bad ideia!!

Rewired the box making a true bypass connection without the led and tested again the circuit.... No squeak, no pop.

From the 3 sea urchin delay that I build this one it's the most quite one!

The low esr cap make a huge difference.... The previous builds I used normal caps and always add a big pop.
Not this one....

The rig test is a must have... But wired in the proper way. Hehe

Thanks
