Title: Bumble Bee Volume Control Mod?
Post by: Gristlepig on April 27, 2013, 07:12:12 PM
Hey folks,

I just populated the Bumble Bee PCB, SB Buzzaround GE's soon to follow.

Before I get to drilling the box...
How worthwhile is the Volume Control mod? Does it add any sort of a volume boost, or just cut? That said, does this circuit need a volume cut? Is it way louder than unity gain?

And does anyone have anything to chime in about the pros and cons of using the 25kB vs. the stock 5kb balance control?

Here's my populated board. Sexy carbon comps, BC Electros and Mallory 150's!

Cheers!

...couldn't get the Flickr link to cooperate, so I added the photo as an attachment.

This is a very loud pedal -- there are very few settings that are at unity volume, and most of the good ones are well above unity. If you use your fuzz as a base tone and don't mind kicking your amp into overdrive, then you probably won't need the volume mod. If you need to run all your pedals at unity volume, then you might want it.

The volume mod does not boost volume. All it does is cut it - just like any other volume control.

Thanks Midwayfair!

That's just what I needed to hear.
I guess I'll save this freshly drilled 3 knob 1590B for my next Muff knockoff and get to drilling up a 4 Knobber.

Thanks again!
