Title: Alternative enclosures
Post by: Kinki fuzz on May 13, 2013, 06:16:07 PM

Hi,
The usual diecast aluminium boxes are great most of the times, but I'd love to give some variety to my collection and I wonder if anyone knows of a source for enclosures of different style. For example, vintage electro harmonix or maestro style, or non stomp box, like the rangemaster. It also happens that I use some effects (delays are typical example) mostly for "studio" applications, don't need the "stomp" feature really, so I thought it could be fun to try different boxings...
Any ideas?

I'm building up a couple of these- http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg16.htm
You have to be careful figuring out the sizes before you order because no projects are designed with them in mind, but they're pretty freaking cool and mostly available through mouser

Personally I really, really (no, really!!) dig the trapezoid boxes from Hammond:

They are cool and turn tricks on the eyes of people when you post pics of your builds....

They are fun looking. I've been trying to figure out some excuse to buy one of the octagonal boxes for a while now.

If you really feel like spending some coin you can rock a custom one

Another but different Hammond link. I just bought a few of those octagons.

Someone here kind of posted a tutorial of how to cut down an enclosure for a custom look.
