Title: new project calls for BF245a. what's a good alternative?
Post by: zilla on May 20, 2013, 04:06:18 AM
mouser lists the bf245a as obsolete and only has an SMD replacement.

are there any replacements that have the same form factor (and ideally the same pin out)

Thanks

Tim

Did a quick google and it seems that a J201 or 2N5457 might work, but mind the reversed pin outs! Check the data sheets to be sure. This: http://alltransistors.com/mosfet/transistor.php?transistor=1229 (http://alltransistors.com/mosfet/transistor.php?transistor=1229) gives you the chance to look for a closer match if your circuit is really built around that specific transistor. To be safe, socket the thing!
