Title: Any love for Tame Impala out there?
Post by: Cortexturizer on May 23, 2013, 10:22:49 AM
This band has been one of my favorites ever since they came out with their debut. They are a heavily effects-driven band and as such I thought maybe they would have a following here hence this topic.
Yes, his voice sounds exactly like John Lennon, the EHX Small Stone never gets bypassed, Pink Floyd-esque progressions and sounds are all over, but in spite all of that I think they are doing something really remarkable in todays scene.
Every song on both of their albums is fantastic, they are coming to us from Perth, Australia, and they stomp on their pedals barefoot. What's there not to like?

Yeah I like them a lot.

Sure they sound like psych era Beatles... but who cares when they sound so good  :D

I think a major part of their sound is their producer; David Friedmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, MGMT).

The way he mixes and engineers albums is very unique and cool IMO (ie. distort and mangle everything!).

Of course I know them and like them a lot.
They have a gig scheduled in south France just where I live in July.
Really longing for hearing them live !!!

I've liked what I've heard by them. With the recommendations above, I think I'll buy the rest of their stuff.
