Title: Help Identifying this Fender Speaker
Post by: PhiloB on June 02, 2014, 11:59:36 AM
Picked this up on CL for free.  It's a 10" Fender Speaker.  There are no numbers or markings on it anywhere (maybe got rubbed off?).  There is a number on the actual cone though.  (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/02/yna4e6y6.jpg)Came out of a warehouse and the guy has no history on it.  Figure it's a long shot but here are a couple pics.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/02/ydy9y8ub.jpg)

A couple of guys over on the Gear Page seem to think this is mid 60s Oxford, based on the shape of the frame. FYI.

there should be a source code on the outer rim of the frame

It was worn off .  Can't even tell where it was.

It looks a little but like the old Oxford speakers.  It doesn't look anything like the Jensons or CTS speakers I've got in my old Fenders.

It could also be a Utah.  I would do a google image search for Oxford and Utah speakers and see if it leads you down the correct path.

I did a quick search on my lunch break and the holes in the frame were shaped the same as a '67 oxford I found.  I picked up a VHT Special 6 on my lunch break for $80.  Great condition.  Supposed to be good for modding.  I'll put this speaker in there as soon as I get a chance.
