Title: A Madbean Trio w/Clip!
Post by: GrindCustoms on July 06, 2014, 11:15:07 PM
Here's what i've boxed so far this weekend....

First is a CherryBomb built to GeekDriver specs... really have to keep that one, was really fun to populate.

Second is a NomNom, thanks to Jon for the JFETs  8)

The Feedback switch is a fun feature but when you mis-drill it......... you dremelize...

Last is a SharkFin.... i did'nt knew what to expect from this, had'nt really listen to clips on youtube or anything like that. But it's a filter and i have to try all filters! ;D

The Filter mode is not a game changer but!!!! the S&H!!!! Holy R2D2 i can now talk!!!!

It was only ticking at first, not really producing anything, once a sweet spot was found on the trimpots and that i continued to fine tune them, the whole awesomeness revealed itself. Very refreshing and inspiring to play with, highly recommend!

IC Mojo! RCA CA3080 and the last three LM741CH i had.....

I also gave another try at that Duplicolor MetalCast Anodized paint...... came out better this time, would have been less boring if i was'nt missing one knob to complete the style i wanted. Will update that later.

That built would have be done way before if it was'nt of the 470uf caps that i've kept on ordering wrong. Still had the wrong one, so i used 100uf and the unit is not noisy at all.

I'm done!

Crap Clip!

Yeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwww.

It looks like the dremel did it's best to sever your tendons, there  :o

The s/h stomp on the Sharkfin is impressively clean! I don't think even Juan's one was that nice looking. No sockets on the 3080s?

Great looking builds Rej, and I love the look of the Duplicolor MetalCast. Great stuff. Mad Dremel skillz also, I have been in the same situation before.

Hahahaha! Yep! that sound! ;D

The enclosure was dremelized and then painted, i also found it to look like i had gutted something....

I test those in either a MicroV or RossComp prior to install. Reliability wise, those RCA might be the best CA3080 produced, never had one non-working or being noisy.

Thanks for the compliment. :)

Wow, really like the brushed finish on the anodised paint. Not sure if we can get that kind of paint here in the Uk.  How did you get the brushed finish, just sand straight lines down the box?  Did you leave the paint unlacquered as I presume that would melt the brushed finish?

Different style it is, bro! ;)

No matter how hard we try..., Picky will end up building one and we'll again feel amateur! hahahaha!

Thanks mate, these where fun to put together.

Thanks! I'm really not the type of builder who put lots of cares in is finishes.

Steps of how i did it:

First Grey primer coat, baked.

Second, Fawking UGLY purple that i tried for the first time, baked.

Was really not happy with that color. Did the light distress finish with steel wool that i always do.

Third, Sprayed some of the Anodized paint. Baked.

Just did a small sanding with the steel wool and Tadam!!
