Title: Potentiometer help
Post by: Haberdasher on June 05, 2010, 05:46:39 PM
Specifically how to get the same 16mm pots from mouser as the ones carried by smallbear (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=555)?  I know they're 1/4" shaft, but mouser has so many different shaft lengths and different options I can't figure out which I should be putting in the cart.

Any help is welcome but if someone has a link that would be great!

thanks

Thanks man, that is allsome.

If they are out of a particular value can these (http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Alpha-Taiwan/RV170F-10-15R1-B100K/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtxdMMi52izyjvXBFAE1kmU61%2fyW0rtfqM%3d) be used in a pinch?

A 12mm base would be nice but wouldn't a 15mm shaft length stick up higher than the .33 inch ones from smallbear?

Hey madbean

If I get a 250K Linear pot and put a 170K resistor from lug 1 to lug 3 would that put me in the ballpark of 100kB?

Just making sure I'm doing the math right...

You got it right :)

Another pot question here...Do reverse pots work the same?
Example:  If I take a 250kC pot and solder a 5k1 resistor from lugs 1 to 3 does it yield me a 5kC?

thanks

Yep, that should do it.
