Title: Meet Joe Fuzz
Post by: Guitarmageddon on October 23, 2014, 03:09:19 AM
A "Bonamassa Custom" spec'ed build of the classic Germanium Fuzz Face circuit.

Spent way too much time getting the trannies biased to the "correct" voltages supplied by a TGP member :o - could have just used trimmers, but not pig headed ol' me. ;)

I breadboarded then hard wired the suckers using vintage resistors that were remarkably off spec- great way to find just the right values tho!...until winter sets in.  ;D

Low gain NOS Russian GT308 and MP39B transistors. With exactly 9v DC supply, Collector of Q1 is 0.91v and Q2 at 6.59v.
Voltage inverter added too.

Sounds great to me though- loud, chewy, germy warmth and great clean up!

I wonder if the client will get those same correct voltages if his ambient room temp is different from yours? Hint: he won't!  ;D

;D I know, I know... but we're in the same post code, it should stay close for half the year -and I'm only charging him $65 for it!

 ;D Thanks fellas!

The dude has bought a heap of pedals off me, so it was sort of a gift, sort of fun for me.
I must admit, I hate trying to put a dollar value on builds. (Dunlop charges around $300 for theirs!...but this is a well worn topic. :P)

I guess it's not Art unless I'm starving. ;)
Funny you should call it that, I actually had an etched pedal purchased by what I think is  a French gallery last week! ???
