First off, I'm partially color blind. I need feedback on pickguard color. Just bought a Lake Placid Blue Strat with maple neck like the one pictured used (MIM). Always wanted one. I've bought many LPs and related instruments in the search for a humbucker guitar that feels good. I've sold them all.
That said, I'm going HH on this strat and will have to buy a new pickguard and possibly new knobs. I have Gibson 490r/t pickups. MIM adding chrome or nickel covers because aesthetically the pups are in good to poor shape.
What color pickguard would you go with? I've had friends mention white perloid, mint and parchment.
What say you Madbeaners?!!(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/21/9da3dcd492dbfb5495b88f46fc7c6733.jpg)

I think parchment would look good and give it a nice aged look. I myself am not a fan of mint but that's me. I am sure there are 100's that like the mint look.
Anodized gold... I'm a huge fan of the Anodized gold pickguards.

White pearloid was my first thought
I saw someone post a guitar on here recently that was blue with the gold pickguard. It looked sharp. But not quite my cup of tea.

First off mint on that blue will definitely NOT work. Parchment is probably the safest choice and would look great. Black MIGHT look good too.
Lol. I really can't trust my own eye but thought the mint seemed strange.

Stick with white.

Stick with white.
+1 New. White. Not aged, not parchment, not mint. WHITE. Looks perfect on Lake Placid Blue.
White, nice clean understated look.

Same here. White perloid looks good against solid colors.
Standard white would look good as well.

Hmmm. I went with white on my '91 Olympic white strat that has yellowed quite a bit and it looks great. Maybe perloid for a little different look.
Keep the suggestions coming:) this is helpful.

I think I would prefer Parchment. White is nice. Don't think Mint would work.
I'd go either white or white pearloid.
white or parchment. tortoise might look good too if you're into that.
i've never been a fan of pearloid, it always reminds me of the c&w scene haha.
i do like anodized sometimes, but for the most part i tend to like it better on darker colored guitars.

That looks sharp Matt!

Black will accent the dot markers and the headstock logo and as well as allow the blue body to pop more. White softens the blue. If you leave the knobs and tremolo bar tip white they will work with the pick up covers to contrast the black. If you use black 3 ply pick guard with white centre (black, white, black)that line will work to accent the knobs, pick up covers etc. That blue is a great colour so make stand out.
Dang pogart, well thought out. You must be a graphic artist:)

I have to agree with the black or tortoise.

There is a smoke or grayish pearloid color that I think would go well.
Holoflash.
No, seriously, go with the cleanest white possible imo.
Tort could be interesting, but white and lake placid blue are gorgeous together.
Also, them some hot pups.
I think the tortoise looks great with a dark neck but not sold on it with the maple neck. Same with the black. Black makes more sense to me with a dark neck.
Leaning heavily toward the white. Perloid might be a bit too fancy pants. White is currently on there which may be influencing me...it looks good:)
Fine artist. All about colour in my world : )
I'd go with white personally.
Or tortoise close second.
Definitely not white pearloid though (a little too fancy schmancy for my tastes).
To bad everything is routed for a pickguard already, otherwise I'd say dispense with the pickguard entirely. Since that is not an option, white seems fine with this color.
Pulling the trigger on white. Honorable mentions: tortoise and black

i vote for pure white. Not gold, not turtoise.
...at usacustomguitars.com they have a virtual guitar builder. Fun to play with.
Cheers
That's pretty slick vallhagen

White, agree with pogarts comments.
Love the blue.
Parchment could look nice if you kept the white pups but not with chrome. And it blends to the neck with the knobs and pups as bright accents.
But really I think you want contrast between the blue and the pick guard to make the blue stand out. If you use the same value (ie lighter vs darker) it confuses the eye and becomes a bit blah.
I used to paint watercolors.
Anxious to see a pic of this once you're done.
I'll definitely post a pic. Just found out my Callaham Bridge order is backordered. I probably won't get it till week after next. I really am not taking it well;)
I'll get it posted in a few weeks though.
