Title: Digitech Trio, it's cool or?
Post by: GrindCustoms on April 07, 2016, 02:49:50 AM
Anyone here owned one? When it first got announced i was quite intrigued about it but never had the opportunity to try out, someone offered me one against my Squier Jaguar i got last year....

Would it be good enough for crap clips and other stuff in that style?

Thanks

I have one traded in for some guitar work from a customer. I haven't spent much time with it honestly but it seams to work ok if laying down simple cord progressions. Good practice tool and to get some simple demos with band context.

I think it's pretty cool for basic practicing.  I doubt I'd use it for live backing, but I also haven't put a ton of time into mastering it.  The nice things is how quickly you can get going with it.

I'm considering letting mine go and upgrading to the Trio+ if you are interested.  I like the idea of it having a looper built in.  Of course, I have two other loopers (one being a Boomerang) so I probably don't need it.

I bought one for my father and I got to play around with it for a few nights. I was not to impressed with the sound of the samples they used but... I think its intended for practice and not for live use. It was pretty cool to play something a let it figure out a beat and bass for you and sometimes it would come up with a timing you would have never tried. Very inspirational. All in all, it did not impress me enough to buy one for myself but it is fun to play with my dads from time to time. He loves the damn thing and uses it all the time.

I had one for a while. It's a great tool for the solitary guitar player to practice. I sold it because I want the newer version with the looper and SD card port (and footswitch to switch between A / B / C chord progressions).

If you want a pseudo-jam and can't find anyone to play with or just want to practice a particular song, it's a good tool.

Yeah, I kind of missed the part about the Jaguar.  Guess I need to read more careful.

Very cool.  I hope you dig it.

Late to the party, but I've got one as well, and I concur with most opinions here.  When I saw it at NAMM last summer I was super stoked about it, as I figured it would be a good songwriting tool, as I am a shittier bass player and much shittier drummer than I am a shitty guitar player (I say that cause I am sooooooooooooooo out of practice).  Problem I have with it is I haven't put enough time into learning how to use it properly, and therefore I get disappointed with the results in generates.  Nice toy, but needs time.

I should add, my dad liked the Trio even more after I made him a Digitech FS3X clone to control more of the features on hand.

Learn - Will put the Trio in "learn" mode to listen to your playing.
Style - This will go through the different styles on tap so you can try them out on the go.
Part - This will cycle through the 3 "parts" you can make. Think of it as a Intro, bridge, chorus kind of thing.

My dad said it was much easier to use the footswitch addon than the one footswitch on the Trio and having to bend over to change styles. lol
