Title: The Colonel Build
Post by: masterlk on September 27, 2016, 06:36:36 PM
Hey folks - Just completed my Colonel build from Rullywow. I know this is a clone of the Guv but I couldn't help but put the other logos on it. Just drawn freehand. Thinking I may redo the enclosure at some point or try to get it into a smaller one, we'll see. Anyway, this is a great sounding pedal and it does sound a bit different than my MI Crunchbox. Glad I have this as a different flavor. Now I am wondering about the Turnabout....

Nice and clean inside - very nice!

I used that wire for a while. It's kinda a pain to work with. Too tough to strip!

Thanks! Yeah the wire is a bit stiff but I like how the casing doesn't shrivel up if it gets to hot.

Beautiful job. I say leave it in the big box! It looks good and you'll be building lots of pedals anyway. Lots of chances to try smaller enclosures.

Thanks Lee. Probably will leave it in the big box(still might get a different paint job or etching though). After a few days with this thing, I think I am in love with the 3 band eq. You can really dial in a wide rand of tones. I like the mid range thing that it has more than a TS style pedal.

That said, do you guys ever get obsessed with the pedals you build? Like after building and checking it out you like it so much that you hear that voice in your head saying "I need another one of these."  I heard that voice on this one. Need one for light overdrive and one for more saturated lead tones. Although it doesn't seem to have too much gain even when cranked.
