Upon building the Woodstork, a 9mm, right angle PC mount pot with plastic shaft seems to be unobtainable. The regular 1ck shaft pot is too thick for a flush mount. I would use a 1k audio taper and wire it backwards, to get fuzz on the ccw end of the rotation but smallbear doesn't have these (1ka).. Aside from putting this in a larger inclosure and using non pcb mounted pots, what other options do I have?
Have any other values like a 2k or 5k?

You can change the taper of a linear pot to audio or revise audio by putting a resistor with 1/5 the resistance of your pot across pins 2 and 3 or 1 and 2, depending on your circuit. You have to determine which leg of the pot on the hot side and then decide from there. Here's a link that explains in more detail.

100k is the lowest reverse audio...5k, the lowest audio for this type pot

A5k wires backwards will work, throw 5k resistor on it.
