Title: Collosalus 15V regulator
Post by: benny_profane on March 27, 2020, 10:17:03 PM
Is the on semi MC7815BTG a suitable replacement for the LM7815? The LM7815 is out of stock at mouser. That seems to me fine, but I wanted to double check.

Looks fine me.
You could always try Digikey.
Sometimes they have better prices. They don't have any of the ON LM7815
Texas Instruments have them, but more than twice the price.

Thanks. I figured they were functionally equivalent. Some of the specs are different, but this isn't seeing variable Vin and it's supplied by a regulated adapter, so things should be okay. Digikey is a good supplier—I just had a cart with mouser and the TI reg was the one component that was out of stock that I was a bit unsure of functional replacements.

I took a quick look at datasheet for both (and others) and they are pretty similar.
Max voltage, current, pinout, and other specs the same.

Cool. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to have a second opinion just in case I missed something. Cheers!
