Title: Florist Wrong Regulator (LM78L06)
Post by: diegoyl on July 12, 2020, 04:37:42 PM
Hello, the florist BOM listed LM78L05 which I ordered from Tayda. However I now realize it is Surface mount and the pcb is for 3-pin. After searching on tayda, from what I understand the 3-pin version is called LM7805 (no extra L). I am confused because I ordered the piece with the correct name so is this an error on the BOM or is there a way to use the surface mount version on the pcb??

The LM78L05 is a TO-92 regulator; the LM7805 is a TO-220 regulator. What is the part number you bought? The 78M05 and 78L05A are SMD.

This is for 7805

How many legs does your regulator has?

You can convert any so8 or sot89 to to-92 by soldering pins to it, just read pinout carefully
