Title: Help with component maths
Post by: noshybabs on July 30, 2020, 03:19:13 AM
Hello everyone.

I am looking to use this chip https://www.diodes.com/assets/Datasheets/AP3015_A.pdf (https://www.diodes.com/assets/Datasheets/AP3015_A.pdf) as a DC-DC boost to take my battery voltage to around 9V to use in some of my pedal projects but its been a while since my highschool electronics classes (I'm 40 in 3 weeks :) )

The maths to get to Vout is:

Vout = 1.23V*(1+r1/R2)

Which should be simple enough but the "1.23V" is confusing me. I would have that that means 1.23*V but if thats the case I dont know what V is, and why would it use the * on the next multiplacation.

If would be great if one of you clever people could help

Thanks in advace.

V is volts. It's a unit.

Nothing cancels it, which is why you get volts on the left hand side.
