Hi all,
Does anyone know where I might find a knob that has a diameter of between 7cm and 8.5cm? If you work in inches that's 2.75" and 3.35".
I won't be picky about its appearance but ideally just something simple like a large version of a Boss style knob. The largest I can find is about 4.5cm.
Thanks as always!
Likely. I'll look.
Big knob

...aren't we all?!?!
I thought you were going to break in to a musical number.
Maybe an appliance control knob could work? Stove/washer/drier
LMS has them up to 4.5 cm. If you know someone with machining tools, it would be an easy thing to make a knurled aluminum one on a lathe. Or maybe 3D print one.
I can send you the knob off my variac? ;D
32 to 61mm diameter here: https://lovemyswitches.com/knobs/?_bc_fsnf=1&Knob+Diameter=32mm%2B

I've worked the other way putting pedal/electronics knobs on the stove, room light rheostat.

Same here. I once put a momentary footswitch on a clothes dryer.

Must suck to keep pushing it for an hour just to get dry clothes.

It kicked off the start relay. It was a surprisingly enjoyable experience even though it was a bit awkward actuating it with my foot so high in the air.
With my stove at least the control's shafts are a very odd shape, not round, flat on two side with a groove on one side, knob hole shaped to match and just slip on.
This is and will be the funniest thing I'll read all day. God I'm bored... XD
Maybe a knob for a Weber grill (http://www.amazon.com/Weber-60088-Q3200-Control-Knob/dp/B06Y448K5M/ref=sr_1_31?dchild=1&keywords=grill+knob&qid=1635281459&sr=8-31) could be conscripted into service? You'd probably have to make a grub screw or use some epoxy to make tines for a knurled shaft.
I have both of these knobs which are pretty large. To illustrate, I have include a banana for scale. Note, the banana is not included. His name is Butch. Butch the Banana. We have many fun adventures hiking through the mountains on weekends. However, he does not like mountain gorillas.
Does Butch enjoy playing My Friend Pedro?
OP, perhaps repurposing a not-knob with a bit of work might be cool?
Ohmite makes some knobs in the size range you're looking for but they are crazy expensive and i haven't found anyone with stock, just 10 piece minimum orders to get them stocked. Maybe someones doing knock-offs of those.

Wow, you aren't kidding! They must be made out of solid gold.

They're big but they won't satisfy me I'm afraid. Appreciate the effort though of course. Thanks!

That's quite the knob you've got there.
If people are gonna post a pic of your knob in your hand, this thread needs to be marked NSFW.
EDIT: Brian are you just going to allow this kind of content here? tsk tsk.

Might also want to visit a HAM flea market, lots of cool old shit (old panel meters :)
The analog studio in the city where I live has a room full of 50's-60's measurement equipment which was used in early electronic music, that type of equipment often has ginormous knops (since the equipment itself is large).
