Josh at jhs did a demo of the amp. The pedal is pretty spot on.
Is anyone here old enough to remember "Freedom Rock"? Cause that's where my mind went right away.
Another tidy build by Thewintersoldier- can you tell us what's going on with the "BITE" control? There's no explanation in the build doc, and the "GAIN" and "VOLUME" functions are already spoken for- I'm puzzled

I must not be old enough, but can I assume that it's the nationalist-propaganda-ridden precursor to "School House Rock?"

This is from the EHX website:
Bite-Alters the amplifier's gain level and frequency response. Turning this control clockwise increases the gain and treble content. This control is also very interactive with the VOLUME control; changing one affects the other.

In the 80's there was a commercial that played on television all the time for one of those LP compilation type records. It was two redneck type guys sitting at the back of a pickup truck, music in the background. One dude goes "Is that Freedom Rock? Well TURN IT UP!".
So, yeah, like the most USA thing ever.
I definitely remember it...

Huh- thanks.
That's what I would've assumed if there weren't already knobs labeled "GAIN" and "TONE," I guess the "BITE" nibbles things in-between?
I put my lab-coat on and checked out the schematic but since they're not connected to clipping diodes, it's a bit out of my ballpark. I did, however, notice that the EHX only had "VOLUME" "BITE" and "TONE" controls which makes a lot more sense, then Effects Layouts came and made it more spicy- I think I'm starting to understand.

Literally every one of my Dads' favorite tracks are on those 4 records, 3 cassettes or 2 CD's!

Maybe you're remembering real Americans and not the commercial?

I could swear that one of the more recent black keys music videos spoofed freedom rock

Thanks John, trying to learn new tricks and mix it up. Having gone from paint.net to actual praphic design software made me up my game. Your ganna start seeing some really cool stuff mixed in from time to time with my general aesthetic.

That should be enough to get you through 2 or 3 of the DEFX Ludwig Phase 2 builds :o
Haha I'm just gonna live vicariously through your build!
Great looking build as always, Chris!

Chris'/EHX's explanation is pretty spot on. I reckon the Gain was more like a volume and Bite the gain control, but the interaction between gain and tone with the Bite control made it feel different, so I added a master volume to allow you to crank it up without blowing speakers.
Also it's called Corsair on my store, but now I'm feeling like I should rename it something overly patriotic. lol
