Title: Transistor Sockets
Post by: masterlk on November 04, 2010, 04:45:29 PM
Hey what are you guys using for Transistor sockets? Part numbers from wherever would be great.

Thanks.

I just use SIL (single in line) sockets and cut them to fit my layout.

But you can get tranny sockets HERE (http://www.effectsconnection.com/oscommerce/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=505) and HERE (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=147).

Good deal, thanks! I was wondering about the inline ones. I am going to build a Sunking and I'm fairly new at soldering and I didn't want to fry my transistor but those round ones don't match up with the holes on the Sunking board...so go with the inline? Are they low profile enough?

Oops! I mis-spoke. I meant the Fatpants. Total noob!

That's why CRBMoA suggested the inline SIL ones.

Here's Smallbear's link: Http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=101

They're out there for less money, but that's just one option.

Get an 8 pin socket for the IC too.  Those are actually even more sensitive to heat than the transistors from what I understand.
