Title: Honeydripper
Post by: dbharris on October 27, 2012, 07:45:33 PM
It's really too bad that my guitar playing skills peaked like 3 years ago. Oh well, here is some noodling. My apologizes for the solo being meh (especially the end). Using my epi les paul, bridge pickup (a SD screamin' demon), my Mesa Lone Star Special. Channel 2 does not have "drive" engaged so it is only 2 triodes, on the 5 watt setting. Channel 1 is on 30 watt setting. I'm happy to answer any other questions.  More infos in the youtube description.

Now I'm going to have to build one of these. Sounds like pure fun.

With an octaver, I'll bet it would sound straight up clown evil.

Yea I am definitely going to try that out.  I just finished my Lowrider, but ordered the wrong size knobs so it isn't on the board yet.  But I should grab my Whammy from the closet and see what happens.

Just a side note...when I go through the different modes of the pedal in the video, they don't sound as different as it does in real life.

Great sounding Honeydripper! I heard a little "Peaches in Regalia" @ 2:30 :)

Thanks guys, glad you like it!  Ashamed to say I had to look up Peaches In Regalia...that's an awesome song.  I was just playing some Jimi style pentatonic licks, but it does sound similar which is really cool.

Hey Brian, did you happen to see my comment in my build report?  Not sure if I was measuring/reading something wrong, but my +18 voltages were on different pins of both 3080s than indicated in the schematic (testing with only charge pump IC installed).

Sorry to bump but for some reason I decided to put the Honeydripper in my effects loop today.  All I can say is WOW, so much better sounding and "feeling" when you play.  I don't know if it is the hotter signal, the buffered part of the loop or what, but it so much more usable.  Specifically the Sweep control.  It used to only be usable in the last 15% of the rotation, now it is more like the last 65% is usable!!!

So if you have an active loop in your amp give it a try.
