Title: Linear taper for volume control
Post by: 23h2o on January 28, 2013, 03:35:20 PM
Im about to build an ac booster and am going to sub a 1m pot for drive but while looking at the glitterati pdf i noticed it has a 100k linear taper for volume. I also saw a post in the forums where a guy was having problems with unity volume on the quasar build. IF I use a linear pot wouldnt that put unity volume around noon vs the log pot around 3 oclock?

How would the linear pot be perceived vs the log? Lke the above or different?

thanks sands

Now that I think about it seems that a linear volume pot would put most of the activity at the end of the travel of the pot......... ???

The volume will come up quicker with a linear pot compared to a log/audio pot. Max volume will, of course, be the same. The log/audio pot is often better at spreading a wider range of usable volume control (depending on the circuit of course).
