Went all out on this one. I Eagled up a Galileo board and found a place locally that would hit it with a laser. Really pleased with how it turned out.
Got it in a 125B with room left over for a couple batteries - you know, if I used batteries.
Sounds fricken amazing. Couldn't stop jamming on it last night. Sorry, neighbors.

You got me inspired with all that tasty laser work. You know, imitation & flattery and all ...
Looks awesome, amazed you got it in such a small box and still made it look empty! 8)

Well, that is very flattering. The laser etching looks great, but it's more than that. The whole project is well laid out from start to finish. I really dig it.
That´s a really nice build. Don´t you have some remaining boards for sale? I´ve build a ROG English Channel recently and really like it. I want to do another Vox in a box.
Oh wow. Love this! It looks perfect (and sounds perfect from your description).
Group Buy?

Also, would love to hear a demo!
That is outstanding!
Well, that's pretty breathtaking. :)
I would definitely be interested in a board as well.
Wow!! love it...yeh count me in for a board. :)
very slick! good photography too!
Very cool!
Count me in for a board.

Looks excellent! I am in for a board as well if you decide to do a run.
Yeah, I would also be interested in a board.
Excellent build! I love the layout and the design choices. I may take one of those boards as well! Keep us updated...
How does that box still look so empty??
Fantastic work. This one has been very near the top of my list for a long time. Put me down as interested in a board.
Hello,
perfect build !!!
Count me in for one board if you decide to do a run.
I am speechless man. THAT
is AWESOOOOOOOME
KILLER etch! Geez, this board is full of wizards. Great layout as well!
I was about to tackle one of these on tagboard, but I think I'll just hold off for the pcb now. Awesome stuff!
love the finish and laser-magic.
I wish I could find someone to do laser stuff where I live!!!!!
Looks sick man. ;D
Just curious, how much did the place charge you?

At first the gal said it could be as much as $40, but she ended up only charging me $15. But I think she's a bit sweet on me - dropped a 'we should do something sometime' - so there might have been some favoritism.
Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Maybe so. She's got a forestry degree and is an exotic wood dealer ...
I stopped by to ask her to dinner, but she's off until Tuesday. Bummer.
dang man!
lol.
Decided to enter this in the contest so I did a video on my iPhone. Added it to the first post.
Really nice job Jubal.

Lovely build dude.
Really really nice.
Been meaning to try out this circuit for a while.
I want in on a board too, this looks awesome

I'm a definite maybe for a board...
well, me being a dumb ass, i've about got the board built, but i don't know how to wire in the switches... :-\
Here's a really lame wiring diagram I just drew up. Hope it's intelligible ...

well, there's something i'm missing. do both in's connect together on one side and both out's connect to the other? if i could see straight down into the gut shot you provided earlier, i could figure it out....

gosh, i'm sorry, Bud! no, i'm good now. i cut the jumper out between 1 and 6 on both switches and it started working. before, when you stepped on a switch, it gave out a terribly loud grumble. it really sounds awesome now! i played around with it last night until nearly midnight! this critter makes an extremely wide varieties of tones. it's gonna be a long day at the salt mine today. i can't wait to get home and experiment with it some more!
LT
welp, i'm hooked. ;D been playin with it for an hour or so and it's been more fun than chasin' whores and doin drugs! i have to build the next one for my son. he's havin a fit!! let me know when you get some more! i'm gonna put it in this...

What day did you pay your invoice? Does your Paypal mailing address match where you want it to be sent? I've had some in the same batch take 2 days to over a week going to the place. Dern USPS :(

Could someone share their FET voltages on the CB30 side?

Could someone share their FET voltages on the CB30 side?
I would, but for some reason, I can't find my build docs...
Cool. My CB30 side is just sounded really farty. And I'm not using this layout, it's one of my own.

Sorry don't understand the CB30 bit, I have built the voxy Brown and it works.
Your last post has just clarified why I don't understand...different layout
The Galileo is a Catalinbread CB30 and Naga Viper in one. I just need voltages for the transistors.
So volts for the Q1- Q5 which are the fets 2N5457 ??
I can take them and get back to you, if thats any good.
Volts taken wrt Ground
Q1 D 9.15 S 5.16 G 4.35
Q2 D 5.16 S 0.53 G 0V
Q3 D 4.99 S 0.694 G 0V
Q4 D 9.15 S 5.0v G 4.37
Q5 D 9.16 S 4.93 G 4.22
Wow, pros work!
what about the lazer etching. how is actually done? where did u find it?
I can get only acids around here :P
cheers

Thanks! I got a local wood shop with a laser to do the cutting. THe enclosure is a pedal parts plus powdercoat.
Someone want to do a demo of this thing? The iPhone video of my crap playing really makes me cringe.
just got all the parts , can someone confirm which way the pc mount pots are , over the board or off of it?
tia , I 'll look harder as well.
this is how I did mine...
If that works must right thanks
Also anyone know how far in value I can sub for the 2.2 uf caps ?
I have 4.7 handy but's more than double, tia
that pic was an old build. you've inspired me to build another one, but this time i'm putting some silver mica mojo in this one, and experiment with some other caps and transistors. here's where I am so far.
Yeah I was wondering how it affect my build with some " lessor " caps I've used
Anybody ? How critical are the 2.2 uf caps ? one is on the output
can I sub without anything strange happening ?
If you don't have a 2.2uF, I'd recommend a 1uF rather than a 4.7, but you'll still get sound with either one.
Good idea , I think the formula for caps in parallel is more simple than caps in series
[ simply add them , I believe ] I have enough 1uf caps . thanks
wow, that's so sweet! I love the copper look too, and the knobs on the side are something I hadn't thought of
Hey Now, OP.... I've finally populated the board after so long away from doing anything like this. I have to say I really appreciate the layout and the orientation marks and all that. Very well done and helpful. I hope to drill and assemble soon.
Thanks
No sound for me. Not sure what I messed up, no weird or broken solders, switches seem to be wired up correctly. sad that I waited so long to attempt this one.
does anyone know of a person who fixes pedals?
If you post pictures of both sides and off board wiring, there are lots of people who will help guide you.
