Whilst having a sort through the storage drawers in the shed, I found a forgotten envelope with a couple of PCB's inside. One of which is a Weener Wah II board. It has space for two trim pots, one marked T1, the other 'Volume'. Looking at the schematic/BOM for the current Weener board there are no trims on it. I've had a search around but can't find a previous schematic so if anyone can help with the values, that would be great, Cheers.

Build Reports / Bass Fuzz
December 26, 2016, 03:38:07 PM
Clone of the Colorsound Bass Fuzz, a cut down Big Muff type circuit.

Stock these are just over unity, volume wise, so I added the usual BM tone-stack recovery stage via a toggle switch so you can have stock sound, or louder stock sound. These are fine for guitar too, the coupling caps are 220nf so not too flubby.

My usual alcohol inks and stamping finish.

Build Reports / Kraken Build.

Madbean Kraken PCB.

Always a pleasure to solder up one of these boards - fired up straight off, sounds great of course. Finish is my usual alcohol inks and stamping.

Build Reports / Zircona Compressor and a couple of others.
September 26, 2016, 04:14:28 PM
Lectric FX Zircona - optical Compressor.

Champion Fuzz - Re-badged Tonebender/B&M Champion Fuzz clone, changed the tonestack to the Hammer/Orman SWTC v2.

Mosrite Fuzzrite Clone.

Fuzzog - Silicon Fuzz Face.

All finishes are alcohol inks and letter stamping. Getting better with board mounted pots, drilling still a bit off.

Build Reports / Fuzz Factory
March 29, 2015, 07:48:23 PM
Apologies to those who have seen this one over at BYOC and DIYstomp.

Its a Fuzz Factory built on tagboard with a sepia perspex viewing window. There are a couple of colour changing LEDs mounted inside that shift through their colours out of sync when its powered up.

The cut out is easy on these soft boxes, just drill holes at the corners, saw along and file flat. The window is perspex, sheets widely available on ebay, cut to size and superglued in place.

Build Reports / Filter Sample Hold
December 19, 2013, 07:51:04 PM
The wierd and wonderful Maestro Filter Sample and Hold on a madbean board.

Fired up right off of the bat, used a 5088 for the noise transistor. The transfer has been a nightmare, second go round and it went soft and smudged, arrrgg! So, it stays like this till the novelty wears off and I feel like another crack at it. If i built another I'd use the standard trims, you never know where you are with the multi turn ones. Wacky little box of fun on the sample and hold, and a perfectly good auto wah in filter mode. Very pleased to have one of these, neat project!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Smoothie switch pop.
January 12, 2013, 06:12:24 PM
Hi Guys,

built up a smoothie, all working fine but I'm getting that capacitor discharge type popping on first switching each time. I'm using the Millenium Bypass method and of course a DPDT switch. I notice on the schematic that there is an 'open' capacitor on the input of the circuit, and with the MBP method you can't ground the effect input on bypass. Anyone else run into this, or do you all use the 3PDT and ground the effect in?
