In my head, I feel like it should look something like this, but no diodes instead of LEDs

Tech Help - Projects Page / Runt diode switch help
April 12, 2013, 11:07:45 PM
So, I want to add a diode switch to my Runt that's like the one on the Slow Loris. I want to at least be able to switch between stock diodes (1N914) and no diodes at all. I have a 2PDT so being able to switch between LED's too wouldn't be that bad (but LED's aren't a necessity). My question is- Can I make this work using a 2PDT On-On-On switch? If so, how do I wire the switch exactly? If not, how can I accomplish my goal?

On another note, if I just wanted to go no diodes (as in, no switch either), do I just put jumpers in place of the 1N914s?

I also have an SPDT On-On switch

thanks! thats all i need!

So, I'm wondering if one could put a Road Rage in a 1590LB box with a DC in and a DC out to act as an external voltage doubler (18v). The idea is one could use it with a regular 9v power supply (like a Visual Sound 1Spot) and power their 18v pedals with it, without having to get a different power supply. Do able? I'm thinking yes, I just want to be sure.

Thanks for your input! I used electros from Mammoth. I've used them in around 10 other builds without problems. The trannies I used are also from Mammoth, but a type I've never used before. That, coupled with there being 8 trannies in this particular build makes me think i should check that out first. Well, after I rule out harmonic interference. I've already done the visual check on the electros and they all appear to be okay.

Anyone?

I snapped some video of the pesky noise in action. You can hear in the video that the noise is still quite prevalent while playing

Someday... Someday I shall build a madbean FSH clone (whatever it ends up being called by then). Patiently waiting  :) keep up the good work Brian!

Open Discussion / Re: Smallbear is getting transformed!

Mammoth definitely has the best platform and a lot of their prices are better than SmallBear. One other thing I haven't liked about SmallBear was the payment method. Either you can write a check/money order (honestly who even does that?) or by PayPal. I. Hate. PayPal. I would order from SmallBear 10x as much if they changed their payment options. I don't necessarily support business undercutting other businesses marginally like the way mammoth has most of their stuff 5 or 10 cents cheaper than SmallBear. So I would rather give SmallBear my business, especially since they have been around much longer

Can an audio probe track this problem down? If so, what's the basic approach to tracking down noise?

So, I built up a faultline a while back. Just got around to testing it out and have found that there's a fair amount of high pitched hum to it. not overbearing like with some grounding issues, but more resembling feedback-type sounds. It also crackles some what, but intermittently. Sort of like the rhythm of a dial-up connection. Any ideas what could be going on here? Everything else works fine. I'm thinking this problem might be transistor related as there are so many of them in this particular circuit. Also, I should note that all of my transistors are socketed.

Open Discussion / Blending a split signal
January 10, 2013, 07:45:11 PM
So, I want to incorporate the dry out on my
Micro POG into my pedalboard setup. Basically, it has an effect out and a dry out. I want to send my dry signal to my distortions and then blend the effect out from the POG with the post-distortion dry signal. Make sense? I need help in figuring out how to do this.

I haven't noticed any quality differences between the SmallBear switches and the Mammoth switches

Open Discussion / Re: Tapering resistor noob here
November 17, 2012, 04:34:54 PM
Okay, let's see if I have this correct: say I take a 250k linear pot and want to turn it into roughly a 25k logarithmic pot: my tapering resistor could be 28k (11.2% of 250k) and that would give me a pseudo-log taper with a resistance (following the formula for parallel resistors) of 25.18k
