Thanks Scruffie.
Good to know this just may be the way it is.

No scope I'm afraid.
Would I be wasting my money with one of these https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9484 or https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11702?

The flange only disappears on one end so I think I'll try the socket.

I've found a setting that I'm pretty happy with, the only trouble I get is if I pick too hard.  Perhaps I should just roll the volume down a touch  ;D

Tech Help - Projects Page / Biasing 15v Current Lover
August 10, 2013, 03:37:54 PM
Just finished my 15v (road rage) current lover and I'm trying to get it biased.

The flange starts with the trimmer at about 1 o'clock and there's quite a lot of distortion. As I turn the trimmer fully clockwise the distortion is much less but still noticeable with hot humbuckers . Adjusting the clock doesn't help much with the distortion.

I'll get some voltages when after I've had some sleep but I'm wondering if socketing R12 and substituting it with 47k would give me some more room to play with?

PS it seems better with my voodoo labs pp2p than my one spot.

If I'm not mistaken a fv of 1-2v is led territory, you might want to try them in some overdrives or distortions if you have sockets.

I had a bag of dead 1n34as as well, most were cloudy and some slightly misshapen.

Glad to see it got sorted in the end.

I'm mostly bummed by the sanded/laser etched j201s and jrc4558s I got a while back.
The j201s I got recently look better but still measure quite differently to the genuine fairchilds I have.

I wasn't aware of this particular TS variant until this thread, but I found a demo video and it does sound very nice. I have to say yours looks much better than the commercial version as well. Well done  ;D

Love the Vertigo style design on the compressor.
The inside of that Little Blue Pill reminds me of Hannibal Lecktor's cell in Michael Mann's Manhunter.  :o

F*************K!!!!! That's incredible. Makes my bass looks like a box of poptarts. I may just stop building and wash cats for a hobby.

Possibly the greatest response I've read in 21 years of internetting.

Superb build, I love everything about it. If it was hanging on the wall of a store I would definately stop and try to get the courage to ask to try it, knowing that I couldn't afford it.

I hear She Sells Sanctuary,  8)
Your builds are really getting better, seriously awesome work.

I feel bad criticizing but I hope it's constructive (especially because I'm living in a glass house ;D)
If the font size for Repeats and Mix were smaller I think it would be smokin'.

When I read the thread title I actually thought you removed the switch and wired it always on 8)
